Vincent Price Shrunken Apple Head Sculpture

I made a short little documentary on a renaissance faire that took place near my hometown. It's based on the art and craft of carving heads out of apples and shrinking them. People make apple head dolls or shrunken heads for their children or to hang during Halloween.

You can make shrunken heads without the kit - and you can still buy them on eBay for hardly nothing...you're basically buying just the box anyhow...

@cattaraugus41 Oh man, I still have one of those Vincent Price Shrunken Head makers! I remember getting it one christmas around 30 years ago and thought it was the neatest thing ever. I don't think it will work now since there are only compact flourescent bulbs available.

I loved making shrunken apple heads when I was a kid. We had apple trees and always had too many apples so I would peel one and carve a face in it. I didn't dip mine to keep it from browning. I liked the effect it gave to sun dry to a leathery wrinkled brown like sun-weathered skin.
