Smoke free sooner than summer

Heading out for dinner, or a drink you may find some changes starting Jan. 1. A statewide smoking ban--which affects bars, restaurants and workplaces - goes into effect July 5. Some businesses are waiting for the ban this summer, but others are starting tomorrow.

You'd think the simple fact that a majority of restaurants and bars in the Green Bay area chose on their own to go smoke-free WAY before a government-mandated state smoking ban is enough proof that allowing private businesses to respond to customer demands is far better than anti lawmakers forcing such an excessive ban.

How about just requiring businesses to declare that they're a smoking establishment, separated smoking/non-smoking while meeting a minimal air quality standard, or smoke-free?

They can "ban:" it all they want.. lol people will just smoke in the bathrooms.

Just like they did in California, people run and hide in the rest rooms and smoke away.

BTW expect at least 40% of your businesses that previously allowed smoking to CLOSE. Another thing that I saw first hand after Kalifornia passed the ban.

So glad they finally passed that law! No one is taking away smoker's rights, just do not smoke in my face when I am trying to enjoy my dinner. Smokers don't realize that smoke irritates eyes, makes you cough and the smell is too much to bare. If they want to smoke they can always go outside and do it. Second-hand smoke kills too.

They need to let the owners decide how to run their business, if smoke free is so damn wanted then their will be plenty of places to go but smokers should have a place to go to. This is getting out of control.

Great move, smoking just hurt people
