@ludolxx94 Serial music dude. Try pouring milk over it and eating it with a spoon - works for me :)

cette musique est ridicule

I, FLYING CLOUD NINE, studied music at my local university, and am producing music that uses modern music composition techniques. If you like Boulez like I do, and are curious about what we, the living, are doing, then Google this: "SoundCloud, FLYING CLOUD NINE".

Is this the expression of a man who's been spending way too much time with chords and harmonies and who can't stand to hear any of it anymore?.....Or his cat chasing some mouse on the keyboard?

Dude. Some got it, some don't. (It's in the genes you know!) And while it's a matter of degree, there are those....like me....who didn't never need no explanation nor no knowledgabability to *feel* these kinds of musics. In other words, don't spend such vocal effort on those who can't grok these relatively easily.

@saintsaens21 At 20 years of musical practice you should have studied such music as serial compositions. I go to an institution where they expose young musicians to the theory of serial compositions and understanding the harmonic structure of these works. It's rather interesting the thought process that goes into these works. A lot of mathematical placement. Like Epogdous stated, it's artistic explorations of ideas through sounds.

@saintsaens21 All three sonatas of Boulez are among the finest serial compositions ever written. Certainly not a trolling attempt. John Cage earned the right to compose 4'33 because of his vast output. if it buggers you, don't listen to it. Nobody should have to listen to anything they don't like. Boulez wrote other pieces you might like that are more "normal" sounding try "Sur Incises" or "Rituel". I like Saint Saens music too. Both men are part of a long line of great French comps.

@jdbrown371 I have stretched my ears, thanks in part to excellent youtube uploaders. I have 20 years musical practice. But this buggers me. It's as musical as Cage's 4'33. Merely a trolling attempt from Boulez ;)

@saintsaens21 You need to learn an entirely new sound vocabulary, new rhythms, harmonies, organizational principles for this music to make sense. It's not easy music by any stretch of the imagination and there is better out there than Boulez. Schoenberg is a good place to start. Bergs violin concerto is great. It's a process and you just need to stretch your ears and mind step by step starting with what you happen to like. Personally I like Elliott Carter best. This is music.
Erm, is this music?

Yes it is. Serial music.

@Epogdous are you sure? why this is music?

@ludolxx94 Because it is an artistic exploration of ideas though sounds. That's what we call 'music'.
