If you decide to buy a home south of 466, plan on spending up to an additional $3800 for drainage problems. The lots were not properly graded to have rain overflow to go to the street sewers. The water puddles in the yard and sides(swales). Consequently, the sod dies. Consider the future of your newly landscaped yard. My neighbors and my yard are puddles. See the problem first hand at nancyanddolan on this website.
We are moving there soon and my mother-in-law lives there now. We are very familiar with The Villages. Jennifer Parr, the founder's grand daughter is helping us with the move. They are wonderful people!
We agree - we are from England and bought a home in The Villages in 2002. It's a fantastic place - there is so much to do that you will never be bored (most of it free) - and everyone is so friendly. We try to explain it to our friends but you can't believe it until you see it for yourself. There is nowhere else like it anywhere and we can't wait to go back to The Villages in the autumn.
You don't buy a house in the Villages, you buy a lifestyle where you feel young and healthy once again. Retirement couldn't be better anywhere else. Not just Florida's friendliest home town in my opinion. The country's most wonderful retirement community!!
the place is a nightmarish dump, with cheaply built ticky-tacky homes!
