"There's no kicking in aikido!"
"Well in my aikido there is."
Man I love that sentence and it's great to see a master who acknowledges the importance of knowing strikes and kicks to improve on ones aikido. Great work on all of your vids!

I have to say that this is by far the most impressive Aikido video on youtube to me, I really like the realism you put into your aikido.

Even though it was slow, I had to replay the first defence several times to catch it, great video and I have subscribed so I can go throuhh the rest

You look like Morpheus a bit XD
Albeit a better, bigger, bad ass version anyways :)
Awesome technique, awesome teaching, and awesome video!
Thank you!!

The Shomen-uchi strike, from my understanding, is representing a sword-edge. Aikido was originally made to defend against Katana empty-handed. The strike is silly but it's the theroy behind it that is usable.

Nice to see how you keep your own elbows down to not give him the opportunity to counterattack. Excellent demonstration, I learned a lot! Greetings from Germany!

I loved the video, i also believe that striking in aikido is necessary, so im learning TKD to combine with kicks :P

@neilalbertclosa y are right… aikido can be supreme in grabing and counter techniques against those arts, but remember that it's never good to talk and compare martial arts to which one is better… there is no better martial art, martial arts techniques, and styles are just like different types of weapons :)

It is good to see another Aikidoka working on Marital Aikido.Too many schools are becoming powder puff girls.I do see elements of Take Sensei's Tesabaki, and JKD's guntings.Very similar to my own background.Keep it up!
May I ask which branch of Aikido you trained. Iwama Ryu by any chance? Good realism without losing the gentle philosophy that is so important.

@numazu2 Ki Aikido and other Aikido systems. As well as other Japanese & Chinese arts. Thank you for your kind words. Peace!

Have you trained in any filipino martial arts at all, sensei? Several of your defenses against these types of attacks begin with a method called 'gunting' in FMA.
