In the middle of our new administration's first 100 days, Power Shift 09 brought over 10,000 young people to Washington to hold our elected officials accountable for rebuilding our economy and reclaiming our future through bold climate and clean energy policy.

  • All the comments on this video are spam. all filler, no substance. I count 7 or 8 comments on the first page alone that say marxism, communism, other agendas, riling up young people...yet they lack substance.

The bottomline is, environmentalism is not bullshit rhetoric. It's a movement that is about incorporating caring for our environment into our culture. The fact that being mindful of our planet, where all of human history has taken place, isn't even a part of our daily lives is sad.

  • If we are not able to ask sceptical questions.

    (Energy paradigm status quo)

To interrogate those who tell us something is true.

    (Climate change deniers)

To be sceptical of those in authority.(Corporate public governance)

    Then were up for grabs.

  • FUCK YOU POWERSHIFT

  • EPA is a flipping joke besides the biggest losers in America today

  • @fabiusmaximus- actally, heat is energy. I think you are missing the point. It is entirely possible to move away from fossile fuels.Nichola Tesla developed a system for FREE wireless power for the entire globe. The only reason his invention is not being utilized is because JP Morgan could not find a way to attach a meter and charge people for using this incredible invention. Between, hemp, solar, geothermal, the hydrogen fuel cell, and wind and wave we could move away from oil tomorrow.

  • Wow, what does a bunch of brainwashed kids in green helmets have to do with clean energy? What does that term mean anyway? It's like having a unicorn farm, it sounds good but it's not likely. I suggest all you well meaning youth do a little research, or at least thinking, and realize that in order to create energy, you need to create heat. Windmills and solar panels are not up to the task of providing the kind of energy we need for the amount of people in the world. At least you get a green hat!

  • @stupid0nut You obviously know very little about economics or fiscal policy. An individual voluntarily purchasing a wind turbine from a European company is not redistributing wealth because the transaction occurs voluntarily.

In order to further the global climate agenda, forced redistribution of wealth is necessary. The "wealthier" western nations will inevitably be enslaved to provide resources for the poorer nations. Climate agenda is global socialism under the false pretense of a crisis.

  • @TacoEqualsFtw Nowhere in any of this is anything about distributing wealth. It is coming out of your own in-the-box mindset. Distributing the wealth of a clean and safe environment that results in healthier individuals and species, SURE!

How about us not investing in clean energy sources and then using money to buy wind turbines from Europe and Asia? Sounds like a distribution in wealth to me, out of the country because we don't have the resources to be a forefront in these new technologies.

  • @stupid0nut You answered your own question about redistribution. You ask where it derives and cite it in your last sentence. The myth of selfishness as a rationality of forced redistribution is tyranny at its core. Person A in X country has more wealth than me, therefore he is should give me some. If he does not, he is deemed "selfish."

If people want to voluntarily donate personal funds to other people throughout the world, that's their prerogative. But leave government out of it.

  • @TacoEqualsFtw Uh... Where does this redistribute stuff come from. I interpreted it as maybe this nation state business is old school and that since we are all on the same planet we need to open our minds and start caring about each other. You know, be less selfish?

    Thats my view though.

  • @stupid0nut

He says: "Our nation doesn't end at our borders, we are one planet and one people." So no, I'm not taking it out of context. His comment is with respect to the current nation-state system where individual countries have autonomy. He is insinuating that nation states do not exist, borders do not exist, and thus as "one people" we need to redistribute as a collective.
