This is a longer problem, about 10 minutes. I've cut this down just to show pieces of the problem, for both the Handler and the Dog. This is a blind- meaning I, the Handler, don't know where the subject is. I have to use baby powder to watch the air and I'm responsible get the dog in places for success.

  • With our group, and an understanding with the state of Virginia: 18 years old- in order to respond to any search, as a certified Field Team member. Many of our Handlers though, have more certifications above FTM.

  • what is the white powder for?

  • The powder (baby powder works well) lets us see the air movement. It's like putting smoke in the air. With powdering the air, we can briefly see how the wind is moving -which lets us best utilize our dogs nose.

  • The powder is especially good for training new handlers on how the air moves- We train using fire-fighting principles really- We use all the same terms like chimney, eddy, inversion layers, and thermals to name a few.

  • Great video! I use corn starch instead of baby powder because I don't like the strong scent. Great problem solving.

  • Very Nice..Good dog you are training..

  • The bell is interesting. It's obvious what it's for. You look really cute in those pants! :)

  • how old do you have to be to be a handeler

  • I found this very educational.
