TATRA CHASSIS CONCEPT

The concept of a 'backbone' tube and independently swinging half-axles was first used on a TATRA passenger car in 1923. Since then it has been constantly developed and improved, and has been employed in vast numbers of different models of heavy-duty off-road TATRA trucks and vehicles, both commercial and military, operating in the most hostile environments throughout the world.


RIGID CENTRAL BACKBONE TUBE

+ No torsion or bending of the chassis and superstructure

+ Driveline shafts covered and protected inside the 'backbone' tube

INDEPENDENT SWING HALF-AXLES

Each wheel moves up and down independently, which allows for remarkably higher speed on rough roads, quick pass over obstacles and exceptional off-road and cross-country mobility. the swing half-axles are also extremely resistant against impacts and shocks.


MODULAR DESIGN

+ High degree of commonality for commercial and military models
+ 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 10x10, and even 12x12 versions in production
+ Different wheelbase alternatives available for each version
+ Suitable as chassis for different kinds of special superstructures

@mgarrbomberstm Well its a matter of opinion ... is heavy truck really needs to look cute? I think Tatra has its own "look" and it differs these vehicles from road trucks. I kinda like the look, its simple, its easy to repair, its decent yet stylish.

There is a reason they look ugly/old. All parts are made to be easily replaced, so the stamped steel parts have to be straight and not curved! if you are a decent metalworker you can repair it yourself using 0.8mm steel sheets.

no, tak si tak projizdim vse kolem tatry a rikam si, kdo je tam asi zodpovedny za marketing, treba tohle video-kamera jaks takz, ale co ta hudba? Prosazujete nakladaky do tezkyho terenu, nebo nedelni dil Beverly Hills 902 10? ten design interieru je taky mazec (uz jen ta klicka ve dverich-je to sice detail, ale prave detaily delaji hodne)-
