HOW NOT TO DO WESTERN RIDING!!!!!

He was so bad. I will admit, the first two changes in the line were beautiful. The second two he was doing something strange with his head which caused him to be late. The center changes were +.5 maybe.

Then my favorite part that would put a dressage horse to same. I don't know why he did this or how he learned to do 1 tempi's. He did this to smite me I am sure. He has been grumpy all day.

I seriously thought his change button was broken because he wouldn't stop changing. Because it was like 11 o'clock at night, it was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing.

Like I said, don't follow this example, haha. Enjoy, hope you laugh as hard as I did.

  • Those tempis were really nice!

  • Haha, thanks!!

  • haha you have to admit that those one tempis were pretty cool..I'm thinking about bridging over to western riding from first level dressage and hus and I was just curious how you get such obedient quiet changes..how do you usually start your horses with changes? any tricks you like to keep in mind? thanks:)

  • They were, I am still surprised!! Getting changes, just one requires doing them a lot. Your horse has to mentally and physically get good at changing leads. My suggestion is to not do it everyday but at most three times per a week to devoting your ride to changes. After awhile, the horse will figure it out! Remember, don't go too slow or they cannot do the change well. Good luck!

  • Any chance of putting up a video showing your training techniques for teaching lead changes? :-) Thanks!

  • Hmm, that would be EXTREMELY difficult. There is a fine line between doing just a lead change and doing a good lead change. I highly doubt a video could capture the minute` details that go into training a western riding. I am sorry.

  • Haha I remembering my last western Riding Pattern on my paint gelding. My mom decided to sign me up for the pattern like 2 mins before the class and I didn't even know the pattern so I went in there and after doing the serpintines I totally forgot what I was doing next so I just kinda jogged and did some wierd thing but it must have been right cuz I got second out of 13 haha. I was pleasently suprised. But it was a great and fun experience. Good job :)

  • OH WOW! your horse is so beautiful!

  • No problem at all! Hope you keep up the good work in the western riding arena. :-)
