We aren't disgracing doom at all. No one here has said anything good about emo. We all hate emo. That's what I was saying: Doom Metal can have "emotive" lyrics, but that DOESN'T make it anything remotely like emo. It isn't. Emo is whiny shit. Doom Metal is great heavy metal with some occasionally depressing, but not remotely emo lyrics. That's what I meant. And bands like My Dying Bride have some gothic metal influences nowadays, even though this band doesn't.

While I prefer death metal and black metal to doom metal now, I still like doom metal too. And while it has "emotive" lyrics, it's not remotely emo. It's proper metal all the way. :)

Bands today that are considered emo aren't the same as what emo originally was. True emo music is a sub-genre of 80s hardcore punk. The shit you hear today is either taking pop punk and making half-assed emotive lyrics or some other bastardization of the original genre incorporating lame ass high pitched whining. Calling what is considered emo today emo is equivalent to calling nu-metal metal. For the record, true emo is still pretty lame, but is at least respectable as a genre. Doom rules!

I don't like them either. Just not my cup of tea. But I don't see why those torrents of hatred are necessary. They don't force me to listen to their music (And they better don't try) or offend me in any other way, so I couldn't care less. I just don't think about them. Well, I don't think about them until someone mentions them in the youtube comments beneath good metal songs like this one. Why do you have to do that?

is this stupid ass conversation really happening? Doom is Doom and Emo is Emo and this song is Doom. So why not talk about the beauty of the song and it's emotions as a whole...or the doom/metal genre as a whole. Great stuff to be found from old Anathema, My Dying Bride, Ablaze My Sorrows, Solitude Aeturnus (obviously) and even Fates Warning jumped on the wagon for 2 of their last 3 albums. Great stuff
