  • It's just a general rule of thumb not to go past a certain amount of brakes, which will slow you down to stall speed, usually 1/2 brakes in flight. If the wing is about to stall, there will be a sudden decrease in brake pressure. And to slow you pull your brakes, as well as controlling surges, and to speed up you use you speed system, a foot operated bar that decreases the AoA
