The 25th Annual 'Tram Sunday' event took place at Fleetwood on Sunday 19th July 2009; for one day of the year, Lord Street was sealed off to display vintage cars, trams, and other vehicles etc.

This however, is a video of the various trams operating between Blackpool and Fleetwood's Fisherman's Walk, which had become the teminus for the day. Various trams are seen in operation here, and at Cleveleys, including (in order of appearance):

Blackpool & Fleetwood single deck car 619
B&F Heritage Tramcar 147 (Michael Airey)
Blackpool Tramway 'Balloon' 717
Blackpool Tramway 'Balloon' 724
Blackpool 'Fisherman's Friend' Illuminations Tram
Blackpool 'Wild West Train' Illuminations Tram

The footage also includes a ride up the tramway between Cleveleys and Fleetwood.

  • when Blackpool tramsport change to the metrolink style trams I hope they keep some of their double decker trams, the balloon tram seen in its pre world war 2 state should have trolly poll rather than a pantagrath

  • I hope so too. Thanks gallafey!

  • the balloon trams will not to fleetwood ferry when the metrolink trams start running

i am not sure if it is correct

  • I believe some of the 'balloons' will from 2010, be confined to Blackpool sea-front only.

  • i wonder how hard is to operate de trolley pole on these duble deckers

  • It takes a bit of precision when swinging the trolley pole round. Thanks.

  • well the pantograph is better, trolley poles are good only for trolleybuses

  • that is correct i belive that also

  • well at least you have some trams with a pantograph

  • Aye. Apparently it may very well be single decker trams once the whole system has been refurbished...
