This video is cited in the Wikipedia description of the Key System electric train line that ran up to 1958 on the left side of the bottom deck. One can see at 4:15min and later the safety nooks for the railroad workers to duck into when a train passed. At the time the remainder of the bottom deck was used for trucks in two directions and the top deck for cars in both directions. Soon the bottom deck after the tunnel will be history as well.

Thanks Man, i live nowhere near San Fran and ive only crossed the bay bridge once, on the upper deck and i COULD NOT find one on the lower deck so thanks!
