hey, wondering if you could answer a question for me. Google is giving conflicting answers, and I can't seem to post on the cryptic forums to ask (don't have a STO account, and just a basic atari account can't create a thread).

When you play STO, does the cash shop have ships that you can't get through other means? if so, how competitive are the "free" ships at endgame, especially pvp?

Just saw that it was cheap, was thinking about picking it up, but this c-store looks kinda fishy.

Nah, there are always other means to get the ships. Most, if not all, can be attained through gameplay, either directly from ranking up or through earning rewards. People just use Cstore to get them early, or get several different ships once they have spent their free tokens from levelling.

Endgame PvP is largely dominated by these ships yes. There are quite a few Intrepid retrofits in this match (inc mine) and some Defiant refits too. Excelsiors and Galaxy refits are very common

@timmietimmins They are slightly less common on the Klingon side. Most people just get skins for their ships, as the klink ships are already quite formidable.

I would definitely recommend the game, especially to anyone keen on Trek.

@fathinking It's called "capture and hold", also known as "salvage operation". The aim is to capture the majority of the 5 points and hold them until the other teams counter hits zero.
