This is a segment of Umphrey's McGee's comfortably numb. A journalist asked a question to Ryan Stasik earlier in the day about it being 40 years since "The Summer of Love" and Woodstock. Specifically, he was asked "What do you think has changed?" and "What happened to the movement?"
Ryan asked them to let the question marinate and asked if they were going to be at the show later in the night. They said yes. That night, Umphrey's McGee covered Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" from the Wall. I don't know if the answer could be put any more succinctly than in song form.
Was this their answer? If so, are they saying that the movement that Pink Floyd sparked off, erupted into punk and metal? Furthermore, are they saying the social movement of the 60s side tracked because of the popular use of pharmaceuticals to alleviate societies ills?
What happened? In the lineage of musicians that followed... Metal happened! \m/
Now watch this video clip. Wait for the end. Tell me what you think.
