Buy this album - probably the best you'll buy all year.

It blows their earlier stuff away, and that stuff was amazing also. Can't believe Marc has gone but the new guy seemed good when I saw them last week.

What does Guy Mcknight do then, just sing? I used to think he wrote the lyrics.. it's hard to find info about 80s Matchbox tbh. For a 21st century band who were relatively successful, they are quite mysterious and i like that alot. Horse of the Dog is monumental you're right. Can defo see the cramps and killing joke sound but i still find Horse of the Dog and Royal Society to be utterly unique albums. I can't believe how underrated they are.. it defies belief. They had a worldwide appeal. WH?

Now they are back with the original Lineup, went to see them for the reunion and that was pure energy! I only hope, now that Huxley is on bord again that they will drop the Marilyn Manson inspired goth cra and go back to the roots. Also, check out the demos of their b-sides! Im not saying that In the Garden is a bad album. They are great musicians but i think they went a bit off track when after Huxley left.

I must disagree,Horse of the dog and Royal Society are both epic monumental Psychobilly/horro/punk/rock.No one has done just that before, no one. I admit that they had influences, especially from the Cramps and Killing Joke amongst other. This has turned almost Goth, an by good we have enough of those bands. Horse of The Dog is a masterpiece wich will go down into history! The pure agressivness, the sound and... Huxley on Guitar! After Huxley left (he wrote most of the songs) They went goth. tbc
