From my garage to Billy's house to Red Rocks - June 8, 2011 Jethro Tull with special guest Kansas. This HD video focuses on the Kansas bass player and front man Billy Greer because he's playing the solid zebrawood 4 string custom bass guitar I made for him. I shot this with a Nikon 5100 DSLR. My camera work is not best but the amount of fun I had that night makes up for it! Plus, he gives me a cool nod of recognition at 4:55.

  • Some zoom shots on Steve Walsh might have been a good thing!

  • @STEVEMOR909 If he were playing the bass I made I would have ;-)

  • So you made that bass and Billy Greer of Kansas is playing it live, and you're there recording it from the front row? Epic win, dude! That's got to be one of the best rock fan stories ever.

  • @RCAvhstape I thought it was a good story. In fact, I haven't come back to earth yet! I'm gonna print out your comment and frame it on the wall :-)

  • what lens you use for this shot?

  • @dukecl I used the 18-55mm VR that came with it.

  • David ragsdale is quite possibly the best violinist in the world.

  • Cool cool cool. What a cool story. And beautiful craftsmanship on the bass.

  • Nice...I see a soldano head

  • @fraroc EVer heard anything from his solo CD?Sounds very much like early 70's Kansas.

  • @davidroygaines I mean Robby wasn't bad, but he's more of a frontman/ singer that can play violin. David is a true violinist. He takes the violin very seriously. And he's not to shabby of a guitarist either! He nails the rhythm parts on Carry On Wayward Son very well!

I can't imagine Kansas without a violinist let alone accept that they toured for about 6 years without one!! Rags didn't come into the picture until 1991.

  • @fraroc Roger that. It's a totally different level with him in the band.

  • @davidroygaines Besides Kerry Livgren's songwriting, David Ragsdale coming to the band was the best thing to ever happen to Kansas.

  • @fraroc I have to lean towards my sister-in-law Alicia DeJoie of @Moraine as my candidate for that title, but David Ragsdale is an awfully close second. ;-)

  • @TomKatCustom It is an epic win in all respects, no doubt about that. Congrats to you and Billy both. :-)
