My wife and I made the trip to Australia in 2010. Would love to see that old Ford on display. We drove up to Nulla creek and stopped at Slim's boyhood home. It was an honour for me to stand in the paddock in front of that house. On the way out I pulled a small stone out of the water in Nulla creek and have it here on my desk in Arizona

The paint colour is called "Wild Violet". Doesn't quite roll off the tongue in song like old purple :)

@fontheking5 There IS no Slim Dusty version - this was written by David after Slim's death, for the Family Reunion album, recorded by the family a couple of years after Slim died.

@Waimate43 Yes it is true that David's a doctor - I remember an interview back in the 90's with David and Slim that David had spotted something irregular with Slim and ordered him to get it checked out. Dr David Kirkpatrick MBBS FACEM is an Emergency Physician
