According to the Bagobos, there were two eels, Aeele and Eele, the pets of the god Manama. But these eels live in Davao river, which is small for them, so they went to find the Ocean. Aeele, because of her sharp mind, was able to find it. Eele wasn't so lucky. When Manama found out, he transformed Eele's lifeless body into Mount Apo as a warning to daydreamers and little eels not to swim too far up north.
