Joan Collins was absolutely marvellous in Season 2, when Alexis still had something of a heart. She was 3 dimensional. Then, everything was ruined when the show became a brand instead of the quality drama series it was supposed to be.

Joan Collins' Alexis certainly injected some energy into the show, but she ultimately turned DYNASTY into a campy cartoon. I've always wondered what would have happened if Sophia Loren had played the role. Would the show have remained more reality-based and character-based, as in Season 1?

@homeric9 I quite agree with you about the scriptwriters, who seemed unable to cope as the show progressed, the symbiosis between the ordinary Bleasdale family and the Carringtons was beyond them and the daughter was written out,the extension of the Carrington family with Adam and Amanda was a mistake,as was letting go the original Steven and Fallon, not to mention the replacement of Amanda...with Blake acquiring a black sister and a brother with an English accent the show descended into farce...

in my opinion, the first season was pretty good but from this moment is where Dynasty took off and skyrocketed!!!!!

That. Is. Amazing. I just love how they do the freeze frame on everyone's reactions. speaks volumes...

@rees276 Dennehy. He had started the opening scene in Death of a Salesman, when two idiots walked in 10 minutes late, arguing all the way down the aisle. to one of the front rows. He tried to keep the scene going, but finally turned to them and yelled, "EXCUSE ME!!! CAN WE GET IT SETTLED?!?" The morons just looked at him in terror like he was going to come down off stage and beat the crap out of them. He apologized to the rest of the audience, walked off stage, and restarted the scene.

And to think the writers threw this in to garner interest for season two. ABC was thinking about canceling this and so they came up with this cliffhanger and promised them they had some juicy stuff coming. They hadn't even landed Joan Collins yet. She was offered the role and turned it down several times before finally saying yes! Of course we all know what happened next--they captured well-dressed lightning in a bottle. The mother of all bitches was born!

One the best moments in soap's history!

Things will never be the same

I just love how Linda Evans does that flip to her hair!!! Seasons one till Pamela left are the best. No one could ever replace the original cast.
Pamela set the tone of dread "oh my god that's my mother" while sliding down in her chair. Nothing beats the early writing yrs on Dynasty
