First of all, most of you know the 'story' of Whitey. So I don't have to re-explain most of it, right?

But I really have a hard time with words, I do. I can't put my feelings out well. Maybe that's the reason I joined Youtube? Nonetheless, I hope I can send my feelings out to you. All the pain I endured over the years. The longing, the worry of what became of my old horse, and then the sadness, yet relief to hear of his passing. I hope this video can show that I was so little, I was only 9 when he was taken. Feeling the pain of loss as a child is something traumatizing, it really is. I never really had close friends when I was a kid, Whitey was the closest friend I had.
It's like you lose contact from your best friend, and a few years later you hear they've died. That kind of pain.

But I'm moving forward with a smile and Whitey's spirit on my back. Every ride, every visit to the barn, I know he's there with me. I wish I could show you, I hope you understand.

But Whitey impacted more than just me. People who I ride with today used to ride him. He was known for teaching a lot of riders back in his younger days.
A lot of people just forgot about Whitey after he was taken, I'm happy his legacy is living on

Even today, I take the chance and I tell my story about him to other horse owners. I want to share it, I feel like it's something the world should know and shouldn't be bottled up like it never happened.

i am so pleased to see that you never gave up looking for him, even if in the end you didn't really find him, you tried and thats the biggest respect you could give to his memory. I've never had a horse, or been close to one that has died so can't say i know how you feel but it is one of the hardest feelings when you lose them as i know from other people. Im glad your making a vow to never forget him, im so inspired by strong spirits like yours xx

This is soooo beautiful Katie. i know the story of Whitey but I'd never heard it from you and I didn't realize that it took so long to find out where he was :(

I can only imagine what that must have been like....I'm so sorry you had to go through it.

There is no doubt in my mind that Whitey is always out there in the field when you're riding.
