Anybody ever hear of Phil Taylor from Motorhead? Pretty much invented the double bass drum style use in heavy metal since its start. I agree, Lombardo is probably the best drummer in heavy metal music, definately one of my favorites, but, the godfather of double bass drums? I'd think even Dave would laugh at that one.

Best drummer in Metal! Godfather of Double base is right, among the first and the best groove ever!
The best really, really FAST drummer is in my opinion Tim Yeung.. (if he could only find a great band to play in..)
Search for "Facebreaker Jam Session" and you´ll be blown away by the speed and precision!
(There are four Jam Sessions with Tim & Dino, all are GREAT!)

While there are drummers that are faster on doublebass than Lombardo, I think Lombardo genuinely deserves the title.. there's just something special about his style, something unique. It's not about speed alone, it's the passion that you can hear while playing, especially considering his long history. He is an icon

@thecocreator88 You hit the nail right on the head. There are loads of drummers that do faster double bass. You're right, when he plays you can really see his passion for the art form. Respect! \m/
