It depends on the underground that you are using. If you're working on a flat hard surface, maybe clay under the base of a figurine would do. In HO scale it works pretty fine that way. It might be necessary though to photoshop some clay away from the photographs. Maybe this isn't necessary if you make figures drop with their heads in the direction of the viewer, then the base may hide the clay from view, or most of it. If you use sand, there are more angles possible than vertical

Thanks for the tips and for commenting. I love your work.
Does exist some kind of mud effect? I cant think about an example, for example, this soldier is in the battlefield and a grenade falls near him, and besides the explosion all the mud from the floor appears on the camera, I think a litle plastic and dirt should do it.
Nice effects Dubblestein, It must take lots of patience to do a single stopmotion.
Hope to see more from you.

@Aiv4n Try using glass in front of your lens, then throw mud, chroma key background for reusable effect.

Hey dubblestein, thanks for the comment. Awesome videos! Very innovative. There are not enough stop-motion filmmakers around and you have some really original ideas. I look forward to seeing more of your work!
