Newman's song alone begs for a response with the hauntingly prophetic line: "They're trying to wash us away," Jump from the images of 1927 to the images splashed across the world of hurricane Katrina and one can't help but shed tears. Louisiana 1927 is destined to be a classic anthem of the rural South.
