April 15th, 2011, Brantford Ontario @ 5am - Lights went flashing by so we grabbed our gear and went to see what was going on..

The scene was closed off, the highway was blocked so we had to shoot the footage from a VERY far distance from the scene. A single male driver, over the legal limit of blood alcohol permitted in Ontario, missed the bend on King George Road & hit the guardrail... the vehicle then rolled over, the guardrail went through the rear window of the drivers vehicle, then the vehicle come to a halt as it plowed into a tree.

We arrived at the scene minutes after the accident! We arrived before the paramedics and other emergency vehicles... Armed with a Canon XL2, shooting at 24fps we immediately started to cover the action from inside our vehicle.

The sole impaired driver (DUI) was conscience, breathing and seemed fine. The driver was a male, and was trapped in his vehicle he was operating. The super fast actions of the Brantford Police Force, Fire Department and Paramedics got into action immediatelty as they prepared for the "Jaws of Life" to cut the driver out.

Full coverage of the extraction using the jaws of life, plus full coverage of the rescue from the experts we all count on. Within minutes all of the medical team was there, the rescue took less then 20 minutes or so and the driver was taken to the Brantford General Hospital right away... he is later charged with Operating a motor vehicle while impaired. Investigators show up later to gather evidence at the scene.

The location of the accident, roll-over was in BRANTFORD, ONTARIO CANADA on Highway #24 (King George Road) where it meets St. Pauls Avenue. There is a bend at this location which the 2 roads meet, the driver was going Southbound and must have fallen asleep or simply too impaired to react to the bend in the road, therefor hitting the curb, guard rail, then flipping his car over and hitting the pole landing upright.

Lucky to be alive, lucky we have such a professional emergency response team ready within minutes to give even the impaired drivers a second chance at life..

Our thanks goes out to all the emergency crew that made this rescue a success!

Enjoy the live unedited coverage...
