Marton is heavy in colour but I wouldn't categorise her as having a full-bodied dramatic voice. Her voice tends to buckle when it approaches anything above a High B Flat/B natural, and you can sense a lot of unsteadiness and tension in the voice. The C was decently placed, but poorly maintained, and the rest of the voice has to try and regain the control.

@erin129 I have a LIVE Forza from 1982 from Barcelona that is spectacular. The Forza Leonora seemed to always be good in her voice. She's partnered in this performance by Guisseppe Giacomini. It's truly exciting!!!

The C is not bad, it's on pitch, it vibrates, she's just afraid of it and rushes through...

Oh that high C!!!! You can feel and see her worrying about it. Not bad in the end. The last note went a bit sour though. Her flaws were exacerbated as the voice got heavier.

She is beautiful, she was just 34 in that time.

memorable is ponselle, milanov, and tebaldi

Eva Morton is one of my Favorite Sopranos but this performance was not moving to me. Listening to her sing the opera Turandot is magical, not this.

it's not perhaps a memorable O patria mia, but it's still better than most of what i'm hearing out there now. while true that verdi wasn't her forte, especially later on as the voice got heavier and less wieldy, there is at least one beautifully sung recording of her Leonora (Forza) from the 70's.
Beautiful. Ladies... Please sing like this and stop the nonsense.
