Warwick Isaacs, General Manager Demolitions for CERA, provides a video drive through of the CBD red zone. This route is similar to the CBD red zone public bus visits running weekends from 5 November to 11 December.

For more information on the CBD red zone public bus visits go to http://cera.govt.nz/cbd-red-zone/public-bus-visits

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) is the agency established by the Government of New Zealand to lead and coordinate the ongoing recovery effort following the devastating earthquakes of September 2010 and February 2011.

CERA is supporting a range of organisations in making well co-ordinated and timely decisions. It aims to help restore the social, economic, cultural and environmental well-being of greater Christchurch communities.

  • Thanks heaps for the opportunity to see our city as it stands today. Living away from Christchurch since after the February quake, I've missed it so much. Can't wait to see it again in life form in 10 sleeps...I miss you my beautiful city...

  • omg omg omg!!! I grew up here from 5 till about 25. Untill I saw this it did not sink in how bad it was.So much of what I remember gone. Is De Larno's magic shop still there? That is a pivot point of my childhood.

I support the rebuild plans and think a low rise cbd will be a great strategy for the future.

  • This is just mindblowing. I hardly recognised a lot of it until he said what it was! I had no idea quite how much was gone and going....just incredible!

  • @BomB191mich meh, they're also driving the wrong way up one way streets. Its not a normal situation!

  • Should my Cousin Violet Nee White see this contact me at rogerallen@orange.net

this is pretty awesome for us here in UK , that is a lot of work to do. Good Luck.

    and bless you all

    Roger Allen

  • @mxnut2 - good idea, you should do that

  • @Batts42 Betcha it's not going to change a lot in the next year.

  • @aGreyAreaProduction I can't find it, but I'm pretty sure it was near the start. The price waterhouse building was on there.

  • Thankyou for posting. It's amazing to see that almost every place of significance that I went to in the CBD before I left is now gone. It's awesome to see places like Alice in wonderland still going. It will be interested to see what it all looks like when I next visit a year from now.

  • @BomB191mich That's because he isn't demolishing a building, he's on a ute moving at walking pace along the road...
