Heard a great guitar player play this yesterday and decided to give it a shot. I used BIAB backing tracks and they apparently have some artifacts, lose a bit of time, so , oh well. It's the Jack-in-the-box-has-a-stroke effect. Or maybe it's more the out-of-control-strobe-light effect. Not sure.

I started this one out with more proper gear, actually using a DI box out of a speaker line, but as luck would have it, BIAB didn't keep the beat well enough on first rendering for me to figure out at all where I was, so I re-rendered slower, and it isn't quite as bad. By this time, I was not interested in how well it recorded so just plugged the guitar into the recorder direct.

So I just watched thing myself, and geez, this is a really bad video. I don't understand why the webcam can't capture at low-resolution, my fingers. I just see a blur. Sometimes I just like to sit in front of the webcam and use that. It's a Logitech Orbit and I'm wondering if anyone else has solved the blurriness problem.

I think it has to do with the latest update of theirs which appears to take away the ability to change the resolution. I just automatically goes to high which I don't need. No one should have to see me in hi-def.

Edit:: Ok, i understand the Logitech blur problem: It is a checkbox by default checked called "Right-Light", a lame attempt to make it always look well-lighted which eats up too much juice and lets the actual rendering go to hell. Uncheck it and there is very little blur.

  • Nice song dude !! It's a Steinberger on the wall ?

  • @kinsey0810 Thanks. Its an old original (I think, g2l) Steinberger that I got while playing at NAMM long ago. Great guitar.

  • Hashi,

That Eastman sound terrific. Or is it you? In any case this is an excellent performance. In particular I like the way you outlined the harmony and still maintained tension and resolution during your improv.

To my ears this is one of your best uploads. I damn sure admire your technique as well.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • @carvetop01 Hey allen,

I was hoping it was a "group" effort ;). Funny thing how that Eastman sounds it's best when I don't mess with it and just plug it in direct, so in essence you just are hearing a cheap pickup.

However, now & then, I forget to turn off whatever Mic is associated with the camera, so I just mix it in to get a bit of acoustic sound.

    Cheers, Hashi

  • @carvetop01

Man, you ain't kidding. I look 10 years older in each video. I keep looking at these and wondering, why is my dead grandfather recording my videos? And why can't he figure out how to use the darned equipment?

    Hashi

  • @hachamacha

That's just age catching up with you :O)

  • @PinkFZeppelin Well, I'll settle happily for that as a damn nice compliment.

    Gracias - H
