Breath of Fire III is a role playing game made by Capcom which was released in 1998 for the Sony Playstation. It is the third game of five in Capcoms Breath of Fire series. In 2005, it was ported to the Playstation Portable with a few minor changes.
Speed Runs:
Serious discussion of speed runs and other challenge-type playthroughs takes place almost exclusively at the Breath of Fire III Message Board at GameFAQs. The first known speed run for BoF3 was done by a user named SharpPaper, however, serious speed running of the game was pioneered by David Kovaz (a.k.a. DavidK5), who has since completed four full segmented speed runs and one single-segment run.
Records:
The best known in-game completion time is 8 hours 41 minutes, which was completed by David Kovaz on June 16, 2007. He also holds the record for the fastest single-segment (no save) game, with an in-game completion time of 11 hours 18 minutes.
General Rules:
* At the end of the game you must choose to fight the final boss and make a Clear Game save after the ending credits to get your final time.
* Cheating devices, including but not limited to, Gameshark, turbo controllers, emulators, and hardware modifications may not be used.
* Only repeatable in-game glitches (such as the item duplication glitch and Angel Tower warp) may be utilized.
* If playing on a Playstation 2, setting the disk speed to fast to reduce loading times is prohibited, as this cannot be repeated on a regular Playstation.
Breath of Fire III (Japanese: ブレスオブファイアIII, "Buresu obu Faia Surī"?) is a console role-playing game developed and published by Capcom for the PlayStation game console. Originally released in Japan in 1997, the game was later released for North America and the PAL region in 1998. It is the third video game in the Breath of Fire series, and the first to feature three-dimensional environments and effects, as well as several new gameplay elements including an expanded combat system, the ability to learn enemy skills, and environment interaction. In 2005, Breath of Fire III was ported to the PlayStation Portable handheld system in Japan, with an English version released exclusively in Europe in 2006.
Set in a fantasy world, the story concerns Ryu, a young boy with the mysterious ability to transform into powerful dragons who must discover the truth behind his origins, as well as locate his lost friends and surrogate family, Rei and Teepo. The game's plot is presented in two parts: half concerning Ryu as a child, and the other as an adult. He is accompanied by a number of supporting characters who aid him on a journey that leads them across the world and eventually confront a mad goddess. Though modestly successful, the game is described as a "thoroughly traditional" yet "classic" role-playing game with a unique Jazz-inspired soundtrack.

@agilityman8 I wondered the exact same things a couple years ago when I was playing this, and I looked at David Kovaz's Walkthrough on gamefaqs (website). as it's very well written and deemed on the message board as the Breath of Fire III Bible. However I still had to figure out exactly when you could come to the spring... You first need Peco, and you need to have found that one jewel or something in a nearby [?] area and then you should be able to meet her... I think...
