When I say pretty bad I mean bad for a special locomotive such as that one. But I guess locomotives were not built to be kept in museums and in pristine shape. When they are out being used, obviously they will wear out and start to look bad.

It's really not that bad. I saw it last year. It needed a battery box cover switched out and needed a new numberboard. They'll make it look nice.

Cool, never knew this was happening to that unit. I saw that unit a couple of years ago somewhere in DuPage County, IL at a grade crossing. No camera though. I remember it in pretty bad cosmetic shape.

Funny you mention that one. It's in North Little Rock, AR now retired pending a full repaint to United Way colors. It'll be reinstated to the active roster at that time. It's supposed to get UW colors again, anyway.

Wash racks don't wash away rust, chipped paint, faded paint, chipped decals, or oil stains. It's paint will wear out, it'll get the standard UP yellow, and nobody will care, I've preserved it in cyber history along with a couple thousand other people.

Yeah, it'll be looking bad by then and nobody will care about it. It sure is fun to see for the time being.
