Whew! You have to consider that the first humans didn't have religion. They began to develop religion ( interpretations of star patterns) as they became aware of their vulnerabilities and the fact that they had more questions than answers. They lived in constant fear and uncertainty for the world was a very unforgiving environment. Organized religion didn't come till after they developed a language. Science was not yet a concept.
@TABOOVSKNOWLEDGE Fair enough said, But this is why we have sociology - the study of society, this helps us to understand how these topics like science and religion, shape us the way we are. I think you missed that in the title.
Science Vs Religion is like saying: Something vs nothing! Knowing vs believing! Sex vs jerking off! E=mc2 vs E=mc Hammer! Space man vs Cave man! Going there vs Believing too have gone there! Hitchens vs Muhammad! Procreation vs Gay Priest! Liberty vs Nazi Pope! Gold vs Fiat Money! Lamborghini vs Lamb powered cart! The Bull vs The Bullshit!
One thing you didn't cover was, many things in the past where told as stone cold religious fact, which today we know was insane baloney, Much of the science community were persecuted if they mentioned something that went against the church's baloney, how can anyone defend a religion that would kill someone for saying the Earth orbited the Sun.

@MissMischiv Religion (vs) science? It might be social, but on a intellectual level it's retarded!
