A Windows 7 taskbar running under linux.
This is a brief overview of the gnome-do program for the Linux desktop configured to function like Windows 7. Also included is a quick rant about why the interface of a computer is only a small part of the whole system.
Also shown is the Arthur desktop from 1989, which looks like Win7's Taskbar

From my understanding, currently the GNOME project is a bit wierd with being ported to non-linux platforms.
In principal yeah you're dead right. I know that KDE, the other popular desktop environment runs on Mac OK.
From my understanding, KDE and Gnome and a few other DE's are running on Google Android.

Probably, provided its dependencies are met. It just depends on how far you're willing to go. Some people stop at configuring GUI options... some stop at editing config files.. while some stop at editing code. Just depends on how much balls you have I guess.
