I'm a northeastern city boy snob who shuddered when he heard country until I heard JJW in 1976. I was wrong. He added humour to writing that couldn't be beat by any genre. To JJW and geez, yup,to country !!!

Nice to hear a song pay tribute to Jerry Jeff, he's a really talented Texas icon, despite the fact that he was born in New York!! Just kidding. Anyway, Jerry Jeff is one of the greats and one of my all-time favorites. I miss the good ol' days of outlaw Texas cow-jazz.

@kens054 I was also at Ft Head in '76-'77...2nd of the 5th Cav....and one of my "buddies" was a Texan and he took me to AWH and it was everything the rumors said it was....never saw JJW there but saw Willie and Charlie and a few I don't remember (that happened often as we were there 2 or 3 times a month) ...here we are 40 years later...as survivors with stories to tell...

I'll never forget seeing JJW on July 4, 1982 in Lagrange, TX (yes, that Lagrange). Outdoor concert and hotter than heck. He came out in short and running shoes. Played a great concert.
