  • johnny85er, you're a genius DJ. Now do something hard: see if you can find video of Johnny Hartford singing (my theme song) "I've Heard That Tear-Stained Monologue [You Do Before You Go]." I know he sang it on "The Johnny Cash Show," before he and Cash did that fabulous Bill Monroe medley .... So. Find it for all of us, OK? Please.

  • it's up.. go watch it :)

  • Oh man, I am having massive 70's AM radio backseat Plymouth Volare childhood memory flashbacks.

  • @bangs45

    Yo Bangs,

"Gentle on my mind" is a GREAT song... But if you really think it's one of his best songs, then you sir have not listened to much Hartford!

  • I had know idea there was video for this song? Beyond Excellent!

  • Thanks so much, Johnny85er. I heard this song in 1971 & loved it alot. It's one of Hartford's best (along w/ Gentle on My Mind). Rest in peace, Johnny Hartford. Amen.

  • Hey, I am an old guy...I know all the old songs and such....but there are more John Hartford songs that "I' have never heard. John...you have touched me in ways you will ever know...RIP my friend !!!

  • I started listening to John Hartford off of 8 tracks in 1970; never could understand why he didn't become a mega star. This is my favorite all time song & ranks right there with Gentle on My Mind. Love his music.

  • I have been a HARTFORD since the first time I herd him in the late 60's. I still love his music and miss him very much.

    R.I.P. John
