I strongly disagree with his negative comment towards the front brake being too soft. I have owned my '09 KLR for 2 years now and have accidentally locked up my front tire on a clean city street before. If anything, I wish it had ABS. The front brake is also strong enough to hold the bike still while doing a burn-out (I wanted to know if this bike could -- it can). Duel sport bikes have compromises that go with them but the brakes work great on and off road. I have no complaints.

@aiolos2411 The Kawasaki KLR650 simply has the weakest front brake of any dual sport model sold in the US. ... or of any streetbike sold in the US. ... and probably of any dirt bike sold in the US ... Period! (sorry, yours may not be stock) MVR

Had a quick question; Since the KLR is carbuerated, (spell check?) how does it do, say, in the mountains or higher elevations? Thanks for the review!

@kc958 We rode the bike in the mountains at about 6,000 feet as well. The bike is a bit underpowered to start with, riding in the mountains didn't change things much. It's never fast, so not a big change. MVR
