Animal Adoption

An animal shelter is a facility that houses homeless, lost or abandoned animals; primarily a large variety of dogs and cats. The animal is kept at the shelter until it is either reclaimed by an owner, adopted to a new owner or placed with another organization. In the past, they were more commonly referred to as "dog pounds", a term which had its origins in the pounds of agricultural communities, where stray cattle would be penned up until claimed by their owners.

Some animal shelters humanely euthanize animals that are not adopted within a set period of time, others have a policy of only putting down animals that are in distress due to age or illness.

I belive that these animals need US to stop their horiible lives... and it only takes one person thats cares to start something completely new for them, those animals will know whats its like to have a family, all of us belong somewhere in someones heart, why cant animals?

@PoisonPenguin I understand where you are coming from but the point is you shouldn't buy from pet shops because by doing so you are just supporting them and most pet shops buy from puppy mills, so really you are supporting puppy mills. If everyone stopped supporting pet shops maybe we could stop the flow of unwanted puppies being born in puppy mills because those dogs live horrible lives. When they are sold to pet shops they are very sick and have continuing health problems all their lives.
