How to kill moss:
1- choose a good biocide - there are many, select one that suits your preference
2- spray the biocide onto the roof. I use a small aquarium pump, plumbed into a microbore hose and with a simple irrigation system at the business end of a telescopic pole (one from window cleaning)
3- let the weather wear off the dead moss and algaes. This takes a couple of weeks to note a visible difference

or... pressure wash the roof.

  • notice the red scales on the tiles, caused by the moss and algae eating into the tile surface. These particular tiles and hand made Tudor roof tiles, one of the most expensive on the market. Simple, annual maintenance would have avoided the scaling.
