Maybe you recall hearing this as the theme for the Late Movie on one of the TV channels in your area. It was, in fact, reissued in 1962 with the different title "Night Theme." Prior to his careers as a major song publisher and some producing and conducting duties for RCA Victor, Nevins in 1939 had been co-founder of the popular instrumental trio The Three Suns.

45rpm: RCA Victor 7663 - Blues For G-String (Albertine) by Al Nevins & His Orchestra.

  • now i'm reminded of those 'gatefold' albums with the play by play description of what instruments are left or right--'the violins start out left and the cellos answer them on the right whilst the muted trumpets wait their turn til the timechange in the middle...then it's the saxes on left duking it out with fullforce trumpets and trombones on right...then back to the beginning but with a little more dazzle'

  • @renofirvine I have the RCA Mono LP stacked on the old Hi Fi as I write this. I was really shocked at the robust sound of this record. love to hear it in Stereo.

  • i have the full LP in stereo---i never get sick of this song----great in stereo---violins and saxes left.....cellos and brass right....
