Episode Two

Selena's POV
(still in the flashback)
All the days after that were a blur...a beautiful blur, and suddenly the thing I once hated became the thing I craved most. To be loved. I was brought up as a foster child. Who was I to know what love was? Maybe it's true that love is totally, completely, utterly blind. I was blindly in love, that's the only way it could be described. Everything he did, everything he said...I would think about it for hours on end, his laugh and smile replaying in my head from the moment I fell asleep to the moment I woke up.
I still remember the day after our first date, when I walked into school and opened my locker only for lots of crimson rose petals to fall out onto the floor. As soon as I closed my locker I saw Justin standing there, leaning against the lockers.
"So, did you like my surprise?" he smiled. Of course I liked it. How was I supposed to know it was all part of something else? All it took was one date to feel that I was truly in love with him. I can even remember all the times we talked on the phone all night, all the times he told me how beautiful I was, all the times he told me he loved me and that I was the one. I was too afraid to say it back.
Ten days was all it took to tell him I loved him. Those were the words he'd been waiting for all along. That day was the best day of my life. And the next day was the worst.
I walked into school and the first thing I saw was the football team, Justin standing amidst them, all laughing uproariously. Then one of them spotted me.
"Hey there she is!" he shouted, and all of them, including Justin, turned to look at me. The same one who just spoke stood on a bench in the middle of the hall.
"Hey everyone, listen up!" he yelled. "Selena said she loves Justin! He did it, it's only been ten days! He won." Now the whole hallway started staring and laughing, while I stood there, humiliated and confused. What the hell was going on?!
"Don't get it do you Gomez?" asked one of the other football players while I stood there in shock. "Justin doesn't love you. It was a bet. You were supposed to fall in love with him in fourteen days. And you did."
I looked at Justin, my eyes brimming with tears, hoping he would prove them wrong, hoping he would say something, anything, but he didn't. He looked just as much of a jerk as his team. He smirked at me before walking over.
"What is it Selena? Did you really think someone like me would fall for someone like you?" That was all it took. I turned around and started running through the huge crowds of laughing people, and I heard their mocking voices, saying how stupid I was to believe Justin. And the worst part was, I agreed with them. I was stupid.
(End of Flashback)
I left Colorado after that. I just couldn't stay there anymore, it was too bitter. It's not like my foster parents really cared, as soon as I was eighteen I could live wherever I wanted. So I moved to New York, as far as I could get from Colorado, from Justin. I hated him with every fiber of my being, but no matter what I did, where I went, I always saw his face. I would never admit it, not even to myself, that I was still in love with him. For months, I was a mess; I just couldn't get over him. I guess I'm still not completely over him. He hurt me so much, so why do I still love him?

[The next morning]
I woke up and heard my phone ringing, so I picked up.
"Hello?"
"Morning Selena," said Miley cheerfully. I smiled.
"Hey Miley, what's up?"
"I was wondering if you wanted to go to Starbucks and get some coffee before work."
"Sure, why not," I said.
"Cool, I'll be there in five," said Miley before hanging up the phone. Miley lives a few floors above me in the building, which is great because I can see her whenever I want. She reminds me so much of Demi, my best friend in Colorado. I miss her so much. But Miley's great. Sadly, we don't work in the same place, she works for a skincare company, but we still spend a lot of time together.
Just as I finished getting ready I heard a knock at the door.
"It's me!" yelled Miley from outside. I smiled and opened the door.
"Hey Miley," I smiled.
"Ready?" she asked.
"Yeah," I said, grabbing my purse. "Let's go."

Kinda boring chapter, I know :P Should get better soon when Justin comes into the story, I just wanted to introduce it a little bit, so you guys know what Selena's life is like. Keep reading :) maybe I'll post again sometime soon haha :)
