http://closertotruth.com - PBS' Closer To Truth host Robert Lawrence Kuhn interviews Dr. Alvin Plantinga (often named as the most important living philosopher of religion today) about properly basic beliefs. Must everything have evidence and argument in order to rationally believe in it?

  • @Thoughtitorium I haven't read it but I appreciate that there is both great beauty and great horror in the natural world. Throwing in the explanation parasite that is God doesn't do anything to change that but theists do so love to ignore the bad when he's involved. Pathetic really!

  • @TeachSecularHumanism You're right, it is special pleading.

  • @FillTheirVoid In your desperate search for ultimate meaning, all you have found is self-deception. The fact that a belief makes you feel good doesn't mean it's true.

  • @FillTheirVoid Woopee? Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's false. You can be happy without pretending fantasy is reality. And I already said I have meaning.

  • @FillTheirVoid Would you prefer to be a cockroach?

  • @FillTheirVoid You're wrong. I never claimed to be omniscient, but I do have objective knowledge. Your concepts are blurry are poorly thought out.

  • @FillTheirVoid Both human and cockroach brains will die for the same reason: biochemistry. If you don't like this fact, it doesn't mean it's false.

  • @FillTheirVoid I don't have to be God to have objective knowledge. If you think both cockroach brains and human brains have the same capacities, you don't know much about neuroscience.

  • @Thoughtitorium

Anyway as I said before - until you have something more to offer than ultimate meaninglessness - you might as well just keep your mouth shut. because won't matter.

  • @Thoughtitorium

Hence the absolute absurdity of your insistence that another peer must be conformed to your meaningless brain's thought process. You'll die - I'll die. Woopee.
