A fantastic, rare recordings that captures first electric Return To Forever line-up (with some modifications) live. It also very clearly shows that Bill Connors wasn't just an "average fusion player".

Return To Forever - After The Cosmic Rain
Recorded 1973 Live at Quite Village, Long Island N.Y. (Originally broadcast live on WLIR-FM)

Personnel (left to right on photo):
Chick Corea - electric piano
Mingo Lewis - percussion
Stanley Clarke - bass
Bill Connors - guitar
Steve Gadd - drums

This track was included on double-CD set "Return To the 7th Galaxy: Return To Forever Anthology".
Previously unreleased.

  • I see Steve Gadd standing there but I never knew he played w/ RTF at all. When did Lenny come in- this goes way back. thanx

  • I rather think that at this time Lenny simply didn't have time so Corea found someone to replace him for a few shows.

  • @74choppzilla aw hon- all the other guys are going... darn.

  • well it was actually the other way around.Steve's Wife would not let him go on tour so got Lenny to replace him

  • Absolutely amazing.

  • I was 13 and jamming RTF! Go Youtube!!!! And for those who can"t do the math...brain cells fried too much weed.!!!!!

  • Gadd didn't want to give up being a studio musician for touring, so Lenny came on board and did a great job with them. At least that is the way I heard it.

  • Great stuff, just wish Bill Connors wasn't such a hermit these days!

  • If forced at gunpoint to name one song as my all-time favorite, this might be it. Maybe because I saw them perform it in concert, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

  • wow, from then to know.this is on the virtu album along with the violinist on the recording.they where as potent then as now!!

  • This information is true and accurate it was told to me by someone close Steve.

  • Steve Gadd had just come out of the army at this time and was looking for work, and conners was living in Hicksville,Long island.
