These ships are up to 60 years old, built when the Dutch ruled Indonesia, & they still travel around the 17,000 islands, & beyond, trading. A great documentary could be made paying for a spot on board & going for it!

The word for ship is 'kapal' & the word for head is 'kepala' and the word for coconut is 'kelapa'. Trying to get to this harbor I said: "We're going to see the wooden heads." The other passengers didn't understand, so I clarified: "We're going to see the wooden coconuts." & then ~ finally I got it right & we had a good laugh :)
