Incredible Shelf Cloud in South Haven Michigan coming on shore off Lake Michigan!

A line of storms formed in Wisconsin on the afternoon of June 8, 2009 and raced across Lake Michigan. I was in position in South Haven, MI at the light house to intercept as it came ashore.

As you can see, people were going about their business until the storm was almost on shore. This storm provided beautiful views as it came ashore.

What is a shelf cloud?

@jotoew The shelf cloud is the elongated 'shelf' that comes out of the thunderstorm front in this video. It is a sign of violent outflow from the storm.

Notice that the storm rotates. These events can be very sudden and even more unpredictable.

Thats awsome. I've seen a few of these come over the lake in my 35 years of life living in S.H. Always impressed when they do.
