oh wow haha

We have these in our fleet on. One has no clutch padle at all. Same set up the smart shift.

@Mikelaren101 it takes a little bit of the skill out of driving and sometimes manuals are better
-
What is your recommendation regarding the Auto over the Manual. Do you like the auto in preference to the manual?
-
@johnsenkenn I have no idea i know that Freightliner use crappy Mercedes engines perhaps this is also ZF transmission
-
But the gearbox is a fuller, isn't it.
-
This is actually Mercedes EPS system only command is in another place!
-
They do have clutches and more of them, but no clutch pedal. There is one clutch for the transmision and several clutches into the gearbox itself. Oh, and the clutch (the big one) works differently than a standard disk clutch.

This video shows that using the truck you can manually select the gear. There is a auto feature where it will operate as a car. The big advantage of the paddle shift is the lack of a clutch. There are times when a regular eaton or Rockefeller transmission just wont shift. Then you get to look around and see how many drivers are grinning at you.

well i dont know bout other ppl but i love to shift so thats why i prefer t drive manual instead of auto. some truckers prefer auto but i prefer manual =]
Does it shift by itself or do u have to do the shifting with the controller thingy??

When I filmed the pedals it was in full auto shift...No need to touch anything.

Why is there a clutch? Or is that a clutch?

It's a normal 18 speed manual gearbox but it changes the gears for you..."Smart Shift" You still need the clutch to start and stop.
