IV. Sunset 8:31

Ferde Grofé, conductor
Rochester Symphony Orchestra

Written in 1929-1931.

(Apologies for the quality of this recording, Side 1 of the LP is really beat up!)

ClassicalRecords is a Youtube channel where I upload some excellent performances from the LPs in my collection. I'm uploading these LPs because they are either not available on CD, out of print on CD, or just difficult to find.

  • When Grofe used "On the Trail" as the theme of his 1933 radio show for Philip Morris, they liked the passage at 2:40, continuing to use it as their musical "signature" on their various sponsored radio and TV programs over the next 20 years (it became as famous as their advertising icon, "Johnny the Bellhop" {Johnny Roventini}).
