This clip is from Tri-Cities, WA. in 1994 of the Miss ELAM Plus 4 point - this was the Ellstrom Families first year involved in unlimited hydroplane racing.
Looks like a modern day Bluebird (Sir Donald Campbell). It looks like a mono hull with outriggers. Why go to a 4 point compared to the standard 3 point, just one more bit in the water to cause drag...... well thats my thoughts, and after seeing it's crash, tend to agree with kbredfire.... the poor driver is probably 2" shorter after the slam he got.
That was the boat that was made to not flip. It did not flip, but the driver probably wished it would have. It went into the air beyond 90* and came slamming back down to the water. I do not think it ever ran well after that wreck.
That would be fun to waterski behind that boat.
