This was a previous reviewed knife and now it's proven in the woods. What a great value the CS 12" Machete Bowie offers. Like I said in previous review of this knife, it's an very affordable survival and defensive option that offers great reach, toughness, good sheath, lightweight, and good swing (as demonstrated here and in another video). As it comes from CS, again, it's edge just sucks. It needs a full re-grind, like on mine, to really bring out the inherent cutting preformance. It's a great hacker, cutter, and slicer and a good-enough wood splitter (its thinness precludes any wedge shaped profile). I was impressed by the efficacy of this blade in my knife clinic and it remains a deadly, nimble fighting knife as well.

SAFETY NOTE: These videos will show imperative common sense safety measures to keep YOU safe from your own blades (and falling timber). Accidentally cutting YOURSELF is the biggest danger you will face in the woods.

  • I split a cold steel machete in half smashing wood improperly

  • @theNewCodingFrontier I don't know what the "Razor's Edge" is, but even if it is cheaper, I am odd. I do not like other people messing with my stuff, as I can get the results that I want. Plus, I find sharpening quite therapeutic and relaxing, so either way, that is always going to be MY preferred method.

  • @theNewCodingFrontier No, you don't NEED a grinder, it would be nice, but sandpaper works just fine. That is what the cheap stones are for, they are gritty, and remove lots of metal, and the fact that they are cheap allows you to seriously grind on them, because they are cheap. The diamond rod, is for sharpening, not grinding, then you move to the high grit stuff to finish, and strop to perfection.

  • @Febeleh Actually Razors Edge is A LOT cheaper than that. You need a grinder for that type of reprofiling

  • @mooseutoo Do it yourself with some cheap stones, diamond rods and sandpaper (preferrably in the higher grits, 900-1500, for finishing work), strop it up, and it's awesome, for nothing more than the price of a bit of hard work. If I can make my BK2 be as sharp as a straight razor with those simple, and relatively cheap, materials, I'm sure you can too. Just takes practice.

  • i want one of these machetes sooo bad

  • Well, its $20, but then you have to add in the reprofiling price too. Speaking of which, how much does that cost?

  • @SuperRip7 mora can....

  • what's the point of batoning when you can get an axe??? It's a cheap & useless knife...you should know better that waste time & you well earn't cash

  • @MrWasabistyle I know 3 things about you already. You swear incessantly, you call a very experienced survivalist a jackass because he keeps his blades lubricated, and you cant spell. Now do those sound like outdoorsmen's traits? :)
