I don't see myself getting over that fear. I was in swim lessons last semester and that didn't work. I can swim but I can't jump. it took me a half an hour to jump into 3 feet of water.

@ook3vin It's cause "cadidiots" think everything they do is high speed. lol i know because im a CDT now.

If you don't successfully complete, you cannot commission, which means maybe paying back any scholarship money. You have loads of time to work getting comfortable with water. A lot depends on how badly you want this. You should let your cadre and Cadet leadership know your fear right away so they can help. Best of luck; you can do it!

What if you can't swim and are afraid of the water? I am very afraid of the water and have tried to overcome it. I am currently a MSIII and will be going to LDAC this summer. I am so afraid of the water I have thought about quiting ROTC just because of the swimming. In my class of 25 I am ranked in the top 10. I know everyone in ROTC will hate to see me go, but I don't know if I can get over it.

@phillysfinest267 You should start preparing to beat your fear now. Cadets must successfully complete the water confidence course in order to get completion credit for LDAC. People struggle every year, but with the right encouragement, you can do it!
