Sudden Afternoon Thunderstorms in Las Vegas

I captured good footage during our sudden thunderstorms that hit the Las Vegas Valley on Monday September 8,2008.Yet again,I was awakened by a crackle of thunder and routinely grabbed my camcorder and began filming.This time, I was able to capture a couple of good lightning strikes.These storms were responsible for localized flash flooding as well as fires from palm trees bein struck by lightning.There was even some wind damage on the east side of town.Awesome storms.

Yea I would love for it to rain myself.But monsoon season 2009 is around the corner now.

Yea exactly.That storm came unexpectedly.I could not believe how intense it was at times.There was a lot of heavy rain and lightning.I heard that lightning set palm trees on fire.I also heard that there was an unconfirmed report of a small tornado from a NWS Storm spotter.I heard it was just wind damage though.

Yea this is the 4th storm to wake me up out of my sleep.That storm came in waves.First it was very weak with some light rain then the storm really gathered strength and we got hammered.That lightning was something too.

Dude this Storm was wicked my light flickerd then came this big rumble of thunder then I ran to my dog to hold her so she wont be scared. And there was big rumbles of thunder then the rain came down hard!

I saw it forming over the Spring Mountains. It was SouthWest of Vegas. Where Im at we didnt get much rain. But lots of thunder was heard.
