Hello-- As we start the new year, I did a video blog looking back at 2009. It was a tough year. I lost my brother, and he meant the world to me.

My brother taught me so much about how to live. This video talks about the lessons I learned from my brother.

The surfing scenes were filmed in Hanalei Bay, Kauai. We go there every year. We went there two weeks after my brother's funeral. I was still having a tough time coping with the loss of my brother when we went to Hawaii. I didn't even want to go. I wanted to stay behind, in California, and hide from the world. But, I went, because it was the only time of year my husband gets off from work, and my son had spent much of his summer sitting patiently in hospital and funeral waiting rooms. This video captures some of the emotions that were going on during that time in Hawaii.

  • Diana,

This video was very moving. I am so very sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts.

  • Dear Diana- I can see the love and care you have for your family by the care you take in telling your story. I am touched by your pain and inspired to live past my FMS pain through your example. I'm not surfing in WI, but am using my snowblower to do my own snow removal. Trust me it's my kind of fun. I grin from ear to ear all the while I'm doing it. The great thing about FMS is that it will not kill us. Carry on Diana!
